The EarForce PX5 Vs XP500 debate is a pretty short lived one. When considering that the XP500 is virtually the same headset as the PX5. The only one worthy difference between the two Turtle Beach gaming headsets is that the later model of the two. The XP500 is specifically designed for the Xbox 360.

But wait I thought they were both designed for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360?. Well they are. However with the PX5 your able to chat wireless via Bluetooth and this option isn’t available for the Xbox. Unless you buy an additional Xbox Live Wireless Adapter.

So with the later release of the XP500 Earforce Gaming Headset, the box includes a XBA Bluetooth adapter so that no extra purchases are required to chat wireless on Xbox live or take mobile phone calls whilst gaming. The other noticeable difference between the XP 500 Versus the PX5 headset is the green Xbox branding on the XP500 whereas on the PX5 it’s red.

Should You Buy The PX5 Or The XP500?

If your main interest is to get a headset for the PS3 then your best bet is to go with the PX5. But if you want a Xbox dedicated headset go with the Xp500. The Px5 with the XBA adapter will be a little cheaper, but then you have an extra port taken up on your Xbox.

Or Should You Re-consider?

Before You Buy Either The XP 500 Or PX5!

The main complaint about these Turtle Beach Headsets is the size. The headset is simply quite large. On the smallest headband setting, many people with small to average sized heads have complained somewhat about how uncomfortable they are.

Another fairly common complaint about these 2 wireless headsets is the amount of interference from other wireless devices. This can cause disruption and popping noises due to many wireless devices sharing the 2.4ghz wireless channel. If your place isn’t cluttered with many wireless devices this might not be a concern for you.

Finally my last gripe is that they require AA batteries to operate. A rechargeable battery pack seems like the most logical option especially for a headset in this price category. But no we are doomed to chasing our tails around the house looking for spare rechargeable batteries.

If your having any doubts regarding buying a XP5 or XP500 because of the above common complaints. Perhaps you should consider the Tango Wireless Headset. The Tango costs roughly the same, well in between actually. So it’s cost is relevant, however what’s so good about the Tango is that it uses the 5GHZ wireless channel which provides an absolute superior wireless gaming session (If your worried about the 2.4GHZ frequency in your home) which uses a different frequency to most other home wireless devices. Right now it’s the best wireless technology and is comparable to leaders in wired headsets.

Also the EarForce Tango comes with a rechargeable battery pack that once charged provides 15 hours of wireless gaming before you simply reconnect and start charging again. Read The Full Review Here
